Electrical Engineering

Welcome to the Department of Electrical Engineering at GCE Kalahandi!

Choosing Electrical Engineering today opens doors to a massive global career landscape. As the world transitions toward smart grids, electric vehicles (EVs), and renewable energy integration, electrical engineers are at the forefront of the green tech revolution. Our graduates are highly versatile, finding lucrative opportunities in core power sectors, automation industries, and EV development. Additionally, our modern curriculum offers dedicated subjects in Python Programming, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence, perfectly equipping students with the skills to launch successful careers in the IT and high-tech software sectors.

Established in 2009, our NBA-accredited department is a premier hub for technical education and innovation, offering a B.Tech program (intake of 60), an M.Tech in Power System Engineering (intake of 18), and a Ph.D. program as a Nodal Centre of Research under BPUT. The department is anchored by a distinguished faculty team of three Professors, two Associate Professors, and four Assistant Professors whose deep research focus drives high-impact publications. To ensure our students are industry-ready, we back our fundamental curriculum with a state-of-the-art computational facility equipped with industry-standard software packages, including: MATLAB, LABVIEW & CYME.

Vision

To be a Centre of Repute in the field of Electrical Engineering through quality education and research for development of the society.

Mission

  • To impart state–of-the-art knowledge and skill sets to the students to adapt the changing industrial needs
  • To create a conducive environment for research in the emerging field of Electrical Engineering.
  • To motivate students to involve in research activities for addressing societal needs, following ethical standards.

Combined with laboratories in Basic Electrical Technology, Circuits and Devices, Electrical Machines, Power Electronics & Drives, Control & Instrumentation, Electrical Measurements, and Power Systems, our students gain hands-on, simulation-based training that prepares them for global industrial demands. Beyond academics, the department nurtures a vibrant student community through its flagship national techno-cultural fest, 'Insprano', and an active IEEE Student Branch chapter. This dynamic ecosystem inculcates vital leadership skills, fosters professional excellence, and connects students with global networks—empowering the next generation of engineers to lead industrial and s ustainable advancements.
