Women Cell

The Women’s Cell in an engineering college is a imperative entity that ensures a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for female students, faculty, and staff. It is a step towards a better and comfortable place for women. It serves as a support system, addressing gender-specific issues and promoting gender equality within the institution. This initiative is crucial in fields like engineering, where gender disparity is often more pronounced. Through its various initiatives, it not only addresses the challenges faced by women in a traditionally male-dominated field but also contributes to their overall growth and development as future engineers and leaders.

The principal objectives of the Women’s Cell include:

  • To conduct workshops, seminars, and talks that focus on women’s rights, self-defense, legal awareness, and health issues
  • To ensure that the campus is free from gender discrimination, harassment, and any form of violence against women
  • To provide counselling and support for women facing academic, personal, or professional challenges.
  • To promote the active participation of women in all aspects of campus life, including leadership roles, technical projects, and extracurricular activities.
  • To offer a stage for addressing grievances related to gender discrimination or harassment and ensuring timely and effective redressal.

The Women’s Cell organizes various activities and initiatives throughout the academic year, including:

  • Awareness Campaigns focusing on issues like gender equality, sexual harassment, mental health, and women’s safety.
  • Workshops and Training Sessions on financial literacy and self-defense are conducted.
  • Guest Lectures by prominent women professionals, activists and leaders who encourage and guide the students.
  • Health Camps for better mental health along with regular health check-ups and promoting wellness programs specifically tailored for women.
  • Providing confidential counselling sessions to deal with personal, academic, or professional issues by the female students and staff.

The cell works in close coordination with other bodies such as the Anti-Ragging Committee, and the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC).
